Choosing a colour for exteriors?
Light Reflectance Value (LRV) indicates how much light a colour reflects. Dark colours absorb more heat, which can increase timber movement and cause coating failure.
Follow the timber, coating and project-specific LRV requirements. Ask our team or your coating supplier before selecting a dark exterior colour.
What timber is best for painted skirting and architraves?
Finger-jointed pine is a practical choice for painted skirtings, architraves and mouldings. It provides a smooth, consistent substrate for projects where a painted finish is required.
What is the difference between finger-jointed pine and clear pine?
Finger-jointed pine is made by joining selected shorter lengths of timber to create a stable, consistent product that’s well suited to painted applications. Clear pine is selected for its appearance and natural grain, making it a better choice when the timber will remain visible beneath a clear or stained finish.
What treatment options are available?
Treatment options depend on the timber, profile and intended application. Selected pine profiles are available untreated or treated, including H3.1 and H3.2 options where appropriate. Our team can help confirm the right option for your project.
How should timber mouldings be stored before installation?
Keep timber profiles dry, under cover and out of direct sunlight. Store them flat, off the ground and on a level surface with evenly spaced support to help prevent bowing or distortion. See our Timber Profile Care Guidelines for more information.
