Specialty Timber Options
More choice for projects that call for something different
While New Zealand pine is at the heart of much of what we manufacture, our capabilities extend well beyond our standard timber options.
We work with a network of timber suppliers to source specialty species for custom profiles and projects with specific aesthetic, performance or material requirements. If you have a particular timber in mind, talk to our team. We can investigate availability, consider whether it is suitable for the intended application and discuss the options with you.
Availability can vary between species, grades and dimensions, so specialty timbers are sourced to suit each project rather than held as part of our standard range.
Specialty timbers we can source
Depending on availability and project requirements, options may include:
American White Oak
American Red Oak

If you don't see your preferred timber, we may still be able to source it for you. Please contact our team to enquire about availability.
Choosing the right timber
Different species bring different characteristics to a project, from colour, grain and finish through to stability, durability and suitability for machining.
If you’re not sure which timber will give you the result you’re looking for, our team can help. Tell us about the profile, where it will be used and the finish or appearance you’re trying to achieve, and we can discuss suitable options before sourcing the timber.
Responsibly sourced timber
Responsible sourcing is an important part of how we approach timber selection.
We source our timber through established suppliers and look for responsibly sourced options wherever possible. The Timber Profile Co. is also FSC® Chain of Custody certified (FSC® C163629), with systems in place to identify and track FSC certified material through our operations.
For specialty and exotic species, certification and sourcing options can vary depending on the species and availability. If responsible sourcing or FSC certification is a requirement for your project, let our team know when you enquire so we can investigate the appropriate options.
